As per the practice followed since the first Republic Day Celebration in 1952, this year also the Ministry invited two tribal representatives, one female and one male from each State/ Union Territory as tribal guests to witness the Republic Day. This year States/Union Territories deputed 46 tribal representatives (21 female and 25 male). These guests represent scheduled tribes in the country from remote tribal areas in the country.
